Adam Schefter reported today that former Cincinnati Bengals WR Andrew Hawkins was informed by the team that they will not match the offer sheet that Hawkins signed with the Browns. The Bengals had until midnight tonight.
Hawkins deal with Cleveland is for 4 years, 13.6 million dollars, with 10.8 front loaded in the first two years.
Hawkins was a very underutilized talent in Cincinnati. He has good hands, explosive speed, and can create havoc in space. He’s likely to fill the slot void left by Davone Bess.
The Cleveland Browns have agreed to terms with former Houston Texans running back Ben Tate.
Tate has been connected to possibly landing in Cleveland since last year. The 25 year old Tate ran for 771 yards on 181 attempts, scoring 4 TDs. Tate was thought to be the most coveted running back in this free agency group.
The Browns agreed to a two year deal with Tate. The dollar amount is reported to be $7 million.
Ben tweeted out a video to Browns fans:
He also tweeted out a picture of himself in a Browns hat:

Overnight, the Cincinnati Bengals seem to intend to match the Cleveland Browns tender on Restricted Free Agent WR Andrew Hawkins.
The ClevelandBrowns have struck 4 year deal on an offer sheet with Cincinatti Bengals WR Andrew Hawkins. Hawkins had 86 catches for 995 yards and 4 TDs in the past three seasons. He caught 12 passes for 199 yards in 8 game last season for Bengals.
He is considered a slot receiver, but given his size and speed, would be considered more of a “weapon”.
The Bengals have 5 days to match the offer sheet once signed. No compensatory picks would be awarded.
Update: Bengals not expected to match:
Multiple league sources are reporting that the Browns are getting closer to a possible trade to land star CB Darrelle Revis.
Per Pro Football Talk, the Browns are now the only team pursuing Revis. The team is said to be in serious talks to make a move for the cornerback.
The Cleveland Browns have signed LB Karlos Dansby to a 4 year, 24 million dollar deal. The contract is heavily front loaded.
